    Vietnam – Part 4

All Aboard The Night Train Like I said part 3 of the Vietnam trip…it was time for another journey on a night train. This time the experience was a little less than the first journey. Our beds were slept on already and apparently no new sheets were available. So I placed my towel on the bed and pillow. Unfortunately we also had people staying in the cabin with us, I am glad we booked the bottom beds though! The couple sleeping in the top beds were from Poland. They were very friendly fortunately!  When we got on the train I made the stupid mistake of forgetting our bag with food…

Vietnam – Part 5 (final part)

The day started bright and early and after a lovely breakfast with lots of dragon fruit (pitaya) it was time to check out and wait for the minivan to pick us up and bring us to Ho Chi Minh City. This trip was about 4 hours which I mostly spend looking outside, spotting people carrying just about everything on their motorbikes. Around midday we arrived in the biggest city of the country. We thought Hanoi was busy, well it was nothing compared to Saigon! From the busstation we hopped on a Grab taxi to the hotel and as soon as we were settled in we got on another taxi to go…

    Doftana Prison

This location was one of the main spots of our little trip to Romania in October 2019. It had been a pin on my map for quite a few years already but we never really made plans to travel to Romania again. But then a friend of ours asked if we wanted to go on a short trip for a few days and we, my partner in crime Leon and I,  quickly suggested going to Romania for 4 days to do some exploring there. And so it happened… A little bit of History Source Text: Tour of Communism Source Old Photos Doftana Penitenciarul first opened in 1895 as a fortress…

    Roadtrip May 2019 – Armenia

This year besides going to Georgia, we added another country to our itinerary: Armenia. Our first leg of the trip was in Georgia and after a week we crossed into Armenia at the Ninotsminda – Bavra border crossing. This is definately not the most obvious and one of the less used border crossing and it showed. The road from Ninotsminda to the border was a challenge! Unpaved, lots of potholes, mudd and sand but we made it! Passengers need to get out and cross the border on foot and since Leon was driving, I got out and waited for him on the other side. Once it was his turn at…

    Fruitful Day

In september 2017 we went on our first England & Wales trip. One of the locations I was really looking forward to was the ‘Fruit Exchange’ although I was told the entry would be a difficult one. As in, climbing up scaffolds & going down fire escapes which had to be done just before daylight hit because this location is smack in the middle of a big city. Well, lets put it this way…we failed…because of me. I got onto the first bit of scaffolds quite simply but then noticed a police car at the traffic light so I had to wait. Then a man was looking right at me,…
